Former Chief Executive takes charge of Hearts

Accra, Dec 18, GNA - The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has confirmed the appointment of two of its former Chief Executive Officers', Harry Zakkour and Nii Ayi-Bonte II, (a.k.a. Thomas Okine) to steer the affairs of the Club.

The appointment of the two which takes immediate effect forms part of the restructuring of the Management team.

Mr Commodore Mensah, Board Chairman of the Club in a statement copied to the GNA Sports said the duo have been given the mandate by the Board to appoint other persons to assist them in the management of the Club.

The appointment follows the defending champion's abysmal performance in the four-week old 2007/2008 Onetouch Premier League, which has seen the Club amass just four points from a possible 12. This therefore ends the tenure of the Steven Akwetey-led Interim Management Committee (IMC) which was sworn into office during the middle of the year.

Mr Zakkour and Nii Ayi-Bonte II, who double as Directors will be in charge of affairs until further notice.

The duo, considered as the most successful CEO's in the history of the Club, have at different times each guided the Club to a continental title. Mr Zakkour led the Club to its first continental title in 2000 by lifting the MTN-Champions League while Nii Ayi-Bonte guided the Club to the maiden edition of the CAF Confederations Cup by beating archrivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko on penalties. 18 Dec. 07
