Harry Quainoo, a former student of the Cape Coast Polytechnics at the centre of an assault allegation against former Black Meteors captain Ablade Kumah, on Wednesday lampooned the Tema Community Two police for intentionally freeing Kumah to enable him run out of the country.
Ablade Kumah, also a former captain of club side, Hearts of Oak, is said to have left the country in the heat of the saga on Tuesday for Bulgaria to ply his football trade.
Speaking to the GNA Sports in Tema on Wednesday, Quainoo said he had suspected something fishy from the very day the player and his hired "machomen" were bailed soon after their assault on him.
He said he had incurred some expenses following the assault on him by the hired "machomen" and his admission at the Tema General Hospital and thought the police would settle the issue before the player is allowed to leave the country.
But contrary to Quainoo's assertion, the Tema Community Two police told the GNA Sports on Tuesday that investigations were almost completed for the matter to be sent to the court.
Assistant Superintendent of police Kwabena Antwi-Boasiako said if it was found out that Ablade had left the country, his girlfriend Hanna Harrison, the machomen together with those who bailed the player would be put before court.
Ablade Kumah, who last played for the Black Stars at the 1996 African Cup of
Nations in South Africa allegedly, hired machomen to beat up Quainoo, apparently to teach him some "lessons" for dating his girlfriend.
A police source said students of the International School of Aviation, in Tema Community 3 on Sunday dawn lodged a complaint at the station against the former international star. Subsequently, the police arrested Ablade and his friends but they were released later to allow investigation to commence.
