Former President John Agyekum Kufour has expressed sadness at Wednesday’s accident involving the Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region that claimed the lives of two persons.
The victims included Mr Thomas Ofosu Berchie, the Equipment Officer of the Kotoko Football Club.
Former President Kufuor, who is also a former Chairman of the Club, expressed condolence to the families of the victims as well as the team and its supporters, a statement issued by Mr Frank Agyekum, the Spokesperson to President Kufuor, said on Thursday.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family as well as the injured and the entire team,” he said.
Former President Kufuor called for calm among the playing body and the supporters and urged drivers to be more circumspect while on the road.
The accident occurred when the bus on which players and officials of the Kotoko Team were travelling ran into a truck on the Nkawkaw-Kumasi Highway.
