Former management member decries abysmal performance of Kotoko

Kumasi, May 5, GNA - A former management member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko F/C, Mr Yaw Gyasi has expressed concern about the poor performance of the Club in this year's Glo Premier League. Mr Gyasi in an interview with the GNA Sports in Kumasi, proposed an emergency stakeholders meeting to identify the causes to be better placed to address them to help bring the past glory of the Club and give encouragement back to its teeming supporters. The dwindling fortunes of Kotoko in recent times had left many of the supporters disappointed.

Just last Sunday, Kotoko suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Gamba All Blacks, who beat them 2-1, bringing to six the number of matches the Porcupine Warriors had lost since the commencement of this year's League. With 24 points, Kotoko lie fourth on the League table and are 14 points adrift of the leaders, Accra Hearts of Oak.

Mr Gyasi was not happy about the apparent disunity among management members of Kotoko and cautioned that "unless they bury their differences, put their house in order and stayed focussed, the team would suffer the most in the end". He said information available to him indicated that some of the players of the Club were not on good terms with each other and attributed this to the division in the management which had trickled down to the playing body.

The former management member urged the management to shun arrogance and to be transparent and accountable in the discharge of its duties to help them win the confidence of the supporters. Mr Gyasi noted that all was not lost for the Club in their pursuit of the League title and therefore appealed to the supporters to rally solidly behind the team as they tried to come back to their winning ways.
