Frimpong in Accra for Nations Cup preparation

Nigeria-based Ghanaian international, Joetex Frimpong, on Tuesday arrived Accra, the Ghanaian capital, to join his colleagues in the Black Stars for preparation towards the Egypt 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, holding in January.

www.ghanaweb.com Nigerian correspondent was at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, where the forward connected a Virgin Nigeria flight to Accra.

"I am happy that we are preparing in good time," he said. Adding that: "After a good season in Nigeria in which I helped my club Enyimba to win the League and Coca-Cola FA Cup, and a personal award, the Most Valuable Player, I am in the best shape to play for my country."

He expressed confidence that the Black Stars would have a good time in Egypt considering the calibre of players in the team.

Frimpong is joining three other foreign based players namely: Francis Dickoh, Laryea Kingston and Dramani Haminu, who are already in camp.

The Enyimba hit-man has since become the biggest foreigner in Nigeria and Ghana's most successful player ever in Nigeria.

Aside from the foreign quartet, six players from Ghanaian clubsides are also in camp. The are Isah Ahmed, Aziz Ansah, Hamza Mohammed, George Owu, Philemon McCarthy and the goal king, Prince Tagoe.

The Black Stars are expected to leave for Tunisia, on Tuesday, where they would intensify preparations for the Africa Nations Cup, in Egypt.

Ghana would begin the competition against perennial rivals, Nigeria and would also play Senegal and Zimbabwe.
