GFA calls for memoranda to enrich statutes

Accra, April 14, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has thrown an open invitation to individuals and groups to submit memoranda to the Committee appointed by the Congress to embark on constitutional reforms for the FA.

The move is to afford all Ghanaians the opportunity to submit their views and suggestions in order to enrich the statutes of the GFA. Mr Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the GFA in a statement copied to the GNA Sports urged interested groups and individuals to submit their memorandum to the secretariat of the GFA by April 26.

Congress, the highest decision making body of the GFA, last week endorsed a five committee proposed by the Executive Council of the GFA to embark on a review of its statutes to conform to FIFA's Standard statutes.

This follows directives from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) to the GFA to review its statutes, which many believe is as a result of the recent power struggle between the Executive Council and Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Chairman of the GFA. The five-member committee is made up of Mr Kwesi Nyantakyie, Vice chairman of the GFA, Jones Alhassan-Abu, a Director of Real Tamale United (RTU), Messrs Randy Abbey, Fred Crenstil and Kwame Ntow-Fiakoe, all members of the Executive Council.

The Committee was appointed last Thursday, April 5 and has four weeks to complete its work.
