Accra, Feb 26, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has set its sight on the five million Swiss Francs qualification fee for the South Africa 2010 World Cup.
The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) will pay each of the National Associations of the 32 finalists of the 2010 World Cup, five million Swiss Francs, a major improvement of the one million Swiss Francs for the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germany.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, the GFA President who revealed this at a media briefing on Tuesday during the launch of "Agenda 2010" said his outfit is working tirelessly towards emerging as one of the beneficiaries of that offer.
The "Agenda 2010" is special initiative developed by the GFA to see to Ghana's successful qualification to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.
Mr Nyantakyi said the 'Agenda 2010' campaign would be more profitable to the football association than the abortive "host and win" dream of the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
He said the GFA will soon submit its budget for the successful execution of its latest campaign to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (MoESS) for their approval and release of the necessary funds.
The GFA boss added that the football association will soon fashion out medium and long term objectives geared towards the realization of the 'Agenda 2010' campaign.
Mr Nyantakyi said the FA as part of its efforts, has lined up series of friendly matches to keep the Black Stars very busy and competitive for the Joint Africa Cup of Nations and World cup qualifiers which begins in June, this year.
The Black Stars will launch their campaign against the Greens of Libya at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on June 1.
