The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has said it believes developing football at the grassroots level is key to the success of the game in Ghana.
“This is why we need to pay more attention to grassroots development across the country,” Mr. George Afriyie, a GFA Executive Committee member said during the closing ceremony of a five-day FIFA Grassroots coaching course for up and coming coaches at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The course, which was held from November 2-6, saw up and coming coaches go through basic coaching programmes.
“By giving training to coaches, who handle football at the grassroots level, it will ensure that the talents of these young kids are well developed", Mr. Afriyie stated.
In the past two years, the GFA has come under pressure to develop football at the grassroots to ensure raw football talents are discovered in their early ages and groomed to take over from aging players.
