GFA inaugurates media committee

Accra, Jan. 13, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Thursday inaugurated a six-member media committee whose primary duty is to keep a cordial working relationship between the Association and the media as well as the general football public.

Inaugurating the Committee, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Chairman of the GFA said the setting up of the committee was in line with his plan when he assumed office to appoint a committee of such nature to manage information flow between his organisation and the media who are partners in development.

He said the setting up of the committee was not in contravention of the rules of the GFA as its statues called for its creation. He said the calibre of people on the committee gave him the hope that the committee members would perform to the best of their ability to change the face of information flow in Ghana football once and for all.

Dr Tamakloe asked them to be resilient and innovative in the dispensation of their duty, which was crucial to the future of the GFA. The committee's responsibility is to educate the public on the activities of the Association and has a mandate for three football seasons.

The committee, which originally had five journalists, will have the Public Relations Officer (POR) of the National Sports Council (NSC) as the ex-officio member brining its total number to six. The members of the Committee are Mr Samuel Okantey, Deputy Group Editor Graphic Sports as the Chairman and Mr Frank Appiah-Agyei, veteran Sports Journalist as Deputy Chairman.

Other members are Mr Christian Abbew, Editor, Times Sports, Mr Kwame Baah-Nuako, Sports Editor, Adom FM, Kofi Aggrey, PRO at the Education and Sports Ministry and Mr Hamid Issaka, PRO of the NSC as the ex-officio member.
