Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association Ibrahim Saani Daara says he believes the Association made a very good decision with the appointment of new Black Stars coach Avram Grant.

The Ghana Football Association last Thursday announced the appointment of Avram Grant as Black Stars coach after Kwesi Appiah’s contract with the Black Stars was mutually terminated.

Prior to the appointment, the FA received several applicants for the Black Stars job, but in the end they selection committee picked the former Chelsea coach, and this according to Saani was a good choice, one that was made in the best interest of the Black Stars.

“I have no doubt in my mind that I we made the right decision to bring Avram on board to coach the Black Stars”, Saani told sportscrusader.com on Saturday.

“Its too early to start judging him, but I believe that with the good support of the other members of the technical team, he will succeed and lead the Stars to break the trophy drought.”

Grant, aged 54, has previously coached Clubs in Israel and Chelsea. The Ghana job is a second international assignment for Grant who coached Israel between 2002-06.

Grant has also had spells in charge of West Ham United and Portsmouth. Grant’s most recent job was at Partizan Belgrade where he guided the team to the Serbian title before resigning with a year remaining on his contract.
