GFA pays ?30.4 million cedis to referees

The standoff between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) over the payment of outstanding debts is over following the successful settlement of ?30.4 million being the final payment of the debts the GFA owes RAG.

A source at the RAG secretariat told the GNA Sports in Accra on Wednesday that the money was paid by the country's football governing body on Tuesday, representing the balance for officiating fees for last year's division one middle league and the Premier league respectively.

Prior to the commencement of this year's Premier League, RAG threatened to boycott the current league matches if the monies owed it were not paid. However, the Chairman of RAG, L. O. Laryea, came out to deny their earlier threat. After an unbearable "heat," RAG came out with its final warning, which has culminated in the payment of the outstanding debt.
