GFA set to close Supersport deal

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will soon close the deal with South African broadcasting giants Supersport to take over as television rights holders of the Premier League.

According to our sources, GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi and Vice President Fred Crentsil flew to South Africa on Wednesday night to seal the deal.

Footy-ghana.com understands that the GFA had wanted Supersport to take over the sole headline sponsorship of the Premier League in initial talks, but following Glo’s readiness to pay outstanding arrears to the GFA, the talks will be centred on Supersport officially becoming the television rights holders.

Footy-ghana.com understands that Nyantakyi and Crentsil will be back by the weekend, by which time the deal would have been sealed.

It will be recalled that Optimum Media Prime (OMP) was the immediate past television rights holder, but its contract with the GFA expired at the end of the 2012/2013 season.
