New Edubiase United Football Club has finally confirmed their participation in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup after several weeks of doubts.
This follows an assurance by the Ghana Football Association to support the club financially.
Management of the club had earlier considered pulling out of the competition due to financial difficulties, just three days to their maiden continental campaign against Congolese side Dables Noirs.
Edubiase must cough up close to $120, 000 for the two-legged tie and will also need over two million dollars for the group stages.
But Alex Ackumey, Vice President of the Club in an interview with XYZ Sports said the FA has decided to help them and described the initiative as a commendable one.
“Finally the FA has given an assurance that they would support us so we are playing on Sunday,” Mr. Ackummey said.
The Bekwai-based side faced at least a three-year ban from continental football if they pulled out from the Confederations Cup.
