GFA urged to increase officiating fees

The Cape Coast municipal referees associationhas appealed to GFA to increase officiating fees of referees handling premier league matches from 150,000 cedis to 200,000 cedis and division one league matches from 96,000 cedis to 150,000 cedis.

Mr Dawson Ahmoah, chairman of the association made the appeal at an end of year party organised by the association for its members at Savoy Hotel on Saturday at Cape Coast.

He said the present fees paid to referees are woeful inadequate to meet their overhead expenses and urged the GFA to consider their request.

He also asked management of soccer clubs to educate players and supporters to comport themselves during league matches.

The association later honoured Mr. Percy Aryee, vice chairman of the association who has retired as referee after 20 years service.

In appreciation of his service, the association presented a certificate of honour to him.

At another party organised by the management of Wa Judy Bless, premier league campaigners at Cape Coast on Saturday, Mr.Manase Asare chairman of the club, urged the players to exhibit a high sense of discipline during their Division One League matches.

He asked the players to eschew violence and to play the game according to the rules.
