Mariano BARRETO (GHA) - Coach

"At the beginning the score was 2-0 but we knew that the Italians would work hard to change it. I am very proud of my team and of the way we played. It was a really difficult match, because Italy is the champion of Europe at under 21 level. During the first half we played strongly and we proved what we can do. After that we made some mistakes and so Italy managed to score twice. But that's football."

"I was very satisfied with our presence during the first half and I was sure that we could win. Unfortunately, during the second half the Italians equalised and I believe that this result is better than a defeat."

"In the first half we were unlucky, similarly to Euro 2004. But in the second half we played very well and did much more than we expected, scoring two goals. Our problem during the first half was totally justified as we haven't played a game since 8 June. We reacted in the best possible way. I am optimistic that we will continue to progress."
