The Ghana League Clubs Association, (GHALCA) will meet on Tuesday, June 26 to deliberate on the election of a new Ghana Football Association (GFA) scheduled for Wednesday June 27.
Mr J.Y. Appiah, chairman of GHALCA told the GNA Sports on Sunday that the meeting would decide on the choice of candidate of club owners, which GHALCA represents.
He said the meeting would weigh the odds against the two candidates, who are seeking election to head the GFA and present a common front at the election the next day.
The government has nominated Mr. Ben Koufie, a former national player and now a Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) and Confederation of African Football (CAF) instructor and Abedi Pele, former Black Stars skipper to vie for the chairmanship.
The GHALCA chairman said they would be doing Ghana football a disservice if they as stakeholders do not ensure that the better candidate of the two nominees gets the nod.
He said from feelers available to GHALCA indications are that one of the candidates would be disqualified thereby making the election a single candidate affair.
Mr Appiah did not however give the name of the candidate who stands the misfortune of disqualification; neither did he give the reasons for his possible disqualification.
He said whatever consensus GHALCA might come out with would be in the interest of the game and not a support or an opposition to any of the candidates because of personality clashes.
The GFA executive council, which elects the board chairman of the association, consists of 33 members and GHALCA has 16 places on the electorate.
