GHALCA reaps two million as fines from clubs

Accra, Aug. 17, GNA - The Ghana League Clubs Association, (GHALCA) organisers of the ongoing Special Knock-Out for Premier League Clubs has so far reaped two million cedis as fines from the participating clubs as a result of various acts of indiscipline.

Accra Hearts of Oak who have suffered an early exit from the competition received the highest fine of six hundred thousand cedis after their first leg match against Obuasi AshantiGold at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, August 11.

Dr Joe Ofori Attah, Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee in a release copied to the GNA Sports said Hearts have been fined for allowing three extra officials on their bench during the first leg match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

AshantiGold on the other hand have also been handed with a fine of five hundred thousand cedis following the jumping of the inner perimeter by a supporter of the club who also threatened the referee as well as throwing of bagged water at the assistant referees by supporters of the club during the second leg game at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium last Sunday.

Accra Great Olympic have also been slapped with a fine of five hundred thousand cedis following an attack on the referee by their fans during the first leg game against Feyenoord at the Cape Coast Park last Wednesday, August 4.

Alhaji Abdul Karim Gruzah, Chairman of King Faisal has been fined two hundred thousand cedis for entering the dressing room at the Sekondi Gyandu Park and threatening Referee Aziza during their first leg game against Sekondi Hassacas on Wednesday, August 4.

Mr Kwame Arhin secretary of Berekum Arsenals has also been fined two hundred thousand cedis for threatening referee Essel Walker in their second leg game against Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday.

In a related development, Abedi Sarfo of Brong Ahafo United has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for his attack on the referee who handled his side's game against Real Sportive last Sunday at Accra Sports Stadium.

The decision to refer the case to the committee was based on the seriousness of the players' offence and the collaboration of the Match Commissioners reports with that of the referee.
