Accra, Oct 6, GNA - The Ghana Women Soccer League Clubs Association (GHAWSOLCA), the umbrella body of the women's game in the country have finally agreed to release its players who were called up for national camping after weeks of negotiation.
The Association in a statement signed by its Vice Chairman, Philip de-Graft Johnson copied to the GNA Sports said, "We have decided to release our players for the national camp this weekend to enable them prepare for the impending international assignments". The women's U-19 team, the Black Princess is to commence camping ahead of an international friendly billed against South Africa later this month.
The statement said the new move was necessitated by an agreement reached between the Association and a five-member committee set up by Mr. Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports some three weeks ago tasked to finding lasting solution to the current impasse. The Committee was formed after the Association congealed its stance not to release what the termed their "bonafide" property to the national camp whilst accusing the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of insensitivity to their cause.
Meanwhile, the association commended the Deputy Minister and Mr. Charles Aryee, Acting Chief Executive of the National Sports Council for their sensitivity towards their plight during the Committee's work.
