Kumasi Asante Kotoko could have won their third-straight Ghana Premier League title today even with three matches to spare, but a 1-3 defeat to Wa All Stars would prolong the celebrations.

Kotoko loanee, Michael Mensah, stole the show after grabbing a brace against his mother club. The Porcupine Warriors went into the Week-27 fixtures with a 10-point gap ahead of Heart of Lions and Hearts of Oak. A win would have handed them the title in mid-week, or a defeat on the part of Lions and Hearts.

Since Lions’ match with Medeama SC will be played next week, coach Didi Dramani’s men will have to wait till that outstanding match is cleared to see if the inevitable title dream will happen before the next round of matches.

Elsewhere, Accra Hearts of Oak were humiliated in Sekondi after suffering a 0-3 defeat to Hasaacas. Samuel Affum scored twice, while Augustine Arhinful added the other goal as the home side strengthened their grip on a top four place.

Inter Allies maintained their impressive run after travelling to Bekwai to beat New Edubaise United 1-0. The newly promoted side have changed their status from a relegation-threatened side to mid-table contenders.

Liberty Professionals beat Amidaus Professionals 2-1 when the two relegation-threatened sides clashed at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea worsened the woes of Ebusua Dwarfs after posting a 1-0 victory over J.E Sarpong’s side.

Ashgold’s inconsistencies continued following a goalless draw game with King Faisal at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
