Agona Swedru, Jan 8, GNA - The Magic O Supporters Union of the Swedru Gamba All Blacks has been inaugurated at Agona Swedru with a call on the members to desist from rowdy and violent behaviour during league matches.

Mr George Afriyie, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who inaugurated the Union, said the former All Blacks went to relegation due to "rowdyism and hooliganism" on the part of the supporters. He noted that the only panacea, which could save the current the Gamba All Blacks Football Club, was to broaden the support base instead of causing commotion at matches.

Mr Afriyie stated that Gamba All Blacks needed a vibrant and dedicated supporters union to move the team forward, instead of bringing it down or sending it back to Division one. According to the CEO, the Magic O Supporters Union needed people who would sacrifice to help the team to chalk success, adding, supporters should not pay lip services but contribute positively to promote soccer in the Agona District.

Mr Afriyie stated that this year Gamba All Blacks would embark on a membership drive and called on the leaders of the union to spread their tentacles to cover Agona Abodom, Kwamang, Kwanyako, Nsaba and Duakwa to make the team a formidable one.

Mr Afriyie assured the teeming supporters that the team would go on relegation, saying, 93with 15 matches left in the second round, All Blacks would play eight at home and seven away".

Mr George Sarfo, Swedru Chairman of the Union, urged committed supporters to contribute to improve the welfare of the players. He said the union was ready to purchase a double door fridge and provide other logistics to supplement the efforts of the CEO who is the sole financier of the team.

Mr Kofi Asonaba, Communication Director of Gamba All Blacks, appealed to the government and Ministry of Education Sports and Science to rehabilitate the Swedru Sports Stadium to improve facilities. He stressed that the facility could also be used by Fankobaa FC in the Second Division and Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord to promote football in the area. 08 Jan 07
