Gambian ref to officiate Ghana - Ivory Coast final

Gambian referee Bakary Papa Gassama will be in charge of the Ghana – Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday.

The 36-year-old will be assisted by Djibril Camara and Waleed Ahmed Ali from Senegal and Sudan respectively while Zambian Janny Sikazwe who was in charge when Ghana brushed aside Guinea 3-0 in the quarter-final will be the fourth referee.

Referee Gassama took charge of the opening match which ended 1-1 between hosts Equatorial Guinea and Congo before handling the 1-1 stalemate between Congo DR and Tunisia.

His last match prior to the final was in the quarter finals, when Ivory Coast comfortably brushed aside north Africans Algeria 3-1. He has shown 167 yellow cards and seven red cards in 63 international games with three yellow cards per game on average.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Ghead Grisha will officiate the third place match between Equatorial Guinea and Congo Republic for the second time after handling Ghana's loss against Mali in 2012.

He will be assisted by Peter Edibe from Nigeria and Burundi’s Jean-Claude Birumushahu, Malang Diedhiou will be the fourth official.
