Aston Villa manager Remi Garde is backing Jordan Ayew to make amends for his moment of madness when he returns to action.

Ayew is available for selection for tonight's Premier League match against Everton at Villa Park after serving a three-match ban.

The suspension was a consequence of his red card for elbowing Aaron Cresswell in Villa's defeat at West Ham at the start of February.

Ayew was dismissed early in that match and has missed the victory over Norwich and defeats to Liverpool and Stoke City.

The Ghanaian has, at times, been a bright light in a cloudy season for the claret and blues and Garde said: "Jordan can be important now.

"In a period when the team wasn't performing Jordan was playing well.

"He made a big mistake: for the team. I'm sure that he will have to prove to his teammates and everybody else in the club that he regrets his mistakes and do his maximum."

Jordan is the club's leading scorer with five goals from 19 appearances.
