A former scout of FC Augsburg Joti Stamatopoulos has applied for the coaching job of Ghanaian top-flight side Hearts of Oak.

Goal Ghana understands that Stamatopoulos, who is the assistant coach of PAOK FC, has furnished the Accra giants with his CV and other related documents.

The 41-year-old German-born Greek previously managed Panionios and a host of other clubs after calling time on his playing career in 2001.

The managing director of Hearts, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, has told Goal that the Rainbow Club “are not in the market for a technical director.”

Although he failed to touch on Stamatopoulos, Armstrong-Mortagbe opined that “there have been a lot of foreign interests in the team. It’s a pleasant feeling that we appear to be attractive to foreign coaches. If we feel that there is a role for any of them we’ll let you know.”

Current coach of Hearts Mohammed Polo has come under intense public backlash over his inability to deliver the desired results and only last weekend relinquished the second spot on the Ghana Premier League log to Heart of Lions.

Polo signed a six-month contract with the Phobians which will expire at the end of the 2013-14 season. His next game in the FCP Premier League is against Berekum Chelsea in Berekum.
