Accra, Sept 11, GNA- Mr Kudjo Fiano, Administrative Secretary of the Ghana Leagues Clubs Association (GHALCA) on Thursday said the association, supports the decision of the Ghana Football Association on the appointment of Mr Ralph Zumdick as the stand-in coach of the Black Stars.

'It is the prerogative of the GFA and we support their decision, if the decision had come from the Ministry we would have said they were imposing things on the GFA but since the choice is coming from the FA we support them.'

Speaking to the GNA Sports in an interview, Mr Fianoo said it is their wish to see Blacks Stars among the best teams in the world and whoever it takes to take the team there is not a problem for the association.

He, however, said if the current trend of football administration in the country does not change, then Ghana should count herself out of the 2006 World Cup.

'The way football is being run currently is not the best and this cannot take us to the world arena, unless the government steps in by putting in enough money. It looks as if we take one step forward and two steps backwards.'

Mr Fianoo said when a step is taken and it is not going in our favour, instead of the problem being assessed and improved upon, we abandon it and go for another.

He described as unfortunate the situation whereby there is no sponsorship for any of the national teams adding, most companies in the country are struggling to break even and could therefore not sponsor football the way they should.

Mr Fianoo added that individuals are doing their best in the running football and instead of their effort being appreciated, they are rather criticised.

He said described Zumdick as a seasoned coach who has been able to raise Kotoko and King Faisal to appreciable levels and appealed to the authorities to put everything at his disposal to enable him to discharge his duties properly since coaching a club and a national team are two different things altogether.
