Ghana FA president Nyantakyi to receive award

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi will receive a special award from the Emmanuel Adebayor Foundation on Friday night for his contribution to good causes in Africa.

The Tottenham striker will be launching his charitable foundation at the plush Trassacco Valley in Accra and will use the occasion to honour Nyantakyi. The Ghana FA boss is a key figure in using football for good causes in Africa and led Adebayor to the northern parts of Ghana to commission wells for two deprived communities last year.

Emmanuel Adebayor Foundation is honouring Nyantakyi for behind-the-scene role he has played in getting things done for Togolese striker.

“Sheyi (Adebayor) will be giving some awards to some individuals who have played key roles in his career and life and Mr. Nyantakyi is one of them,” Foussena Djagba, the publicist of the Tottenham striker said.

“We all saw the role he played when Sheyi commissioned the two wells in the northern and he has been supporting the foundation and the players in many ways privately.

“For all the good works he has done and he is doing for Africa football by helping destitute retired players is something also noteworthy.”

The Ghana FA boss has been instrumental in many social interventions using football with the Bl;ack Stars being used to promote good causes like the fight against malaria, and peace messages ahead of the Ghana elections.

He also mooted the idea of a match to honour legendary coach and raise funds for the ailing for Africa Coach of the Year award winner. The match will be played on Friday.

Earlier this year Nyantakyi visited Shittu Muda, an ex-Great Olympics player who has gone blind, to support him.

Nyantakyi is also preparing to launch a mutual fund for ex-Ghana footballers who are destitute.
