Accra, Sept. 27, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday inaugurated the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) third Goal Project at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram.
The Project, funded by the world soccer governing body to the tune
of 400,000 US Dollars, consists of a Dining Hall Complex, a
300-capacity Conference room and a storage room located on the
premises of the National Technical Centre. Sampon Kablan, FIFA Development Officer in charge of West Africa
who inaugurated the facility on Monday, commended the GFA for the
maximum utilization of the resources for the intended purpose. He expressed the conviction that the facility which is about 95
percent complete will serve as a catalyst in the development of Ghana
football to attainable heights. Kablan added that FIFA was satisfied with the utilization of the
resources from the Goal Project for the edifice by the GFA compared
to other African countries. He mentioned the likes of Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Cape
Verde and Mali as countries to have benefited from the Goal Project
III. Awuah Nyamekye, Executive Committee Member of the GFA
received the keys to the facilities on behalf of the Association and
promised that they will be put to good use. The Project was constructed by Civicom Ghana Limited with
Pro-Ark Limited as the Project Consultants. The Goal Project which is an initiative of FIFA President, Joseph
Sepp Blatter is a tailor-made development and assistance programme
designed to realise projects based on the specific needs of national
associations. The Goal I was used for the construction of the technical centre at Prampram whilst the second was invested in the construction of an
office complex for the GFA and an artificial pitch at the Tema Stadium.
