Some fans at the stadium had their explanation for the non-functional scoreboard.

"The Nigerians have bribed the scoreboard operator" said a Ghanaian fan

"Who cares about the scoreboard? I did not even look there" said another one

"The operator [of the scoreboard] is a Nigerian immigrant; I know him. What do you expect?" said another

A Nigerian fan, who traveled all the way from Hull to watch the game summed it up best with: "The only thing that went well for us last night was the scoreboard."
