In a bid to adequately prepare the Super Eagles ahead of the next rounds of Tunisia'2004 Nations Cup qualifiers, the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has confirmed two international friendlies for the team in December.

THISDAYSports gathered yesterday that the Super Eagles were billed to confront their West African arch-rivals, Black Stars of Ghana and the national team of Togo in December in the build-up to the continental qualifier.

NFA spokesman Samuel Kaalu, who confirmed this in Abuja yesterday, told THISDAYSports that the Super Eagles will travel to Accra for the first friendly against the Ghana Black Stars on December 8.

According to the Football House, the Black Stars are expected in Lagos a week later for the return match billed for the main bowl of the National Stadium, Lagos. The friendly against the Togolese national team will come up December 1.

Nigeria and Ghana last clashed in a decisive qualifying match for the 2002 World Cup at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt with the Eagles winning 3-0 to book their ticket to the soccer finals ahead of group rivals Liberia.

Meanwhile, Coach Christian Chukwu has named a squad of 25 domestic-based players for this weekend's charity match in Senegal in aid of the victims of the ferry disaster, which claimed some 1,000 lives. The hastily arranged fixture will be played in Dakar on Saturday.

Coach Chukwu will miss the match as he will be in Malawi on a spying mission, to watch the Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Angola, who are both in the same group as Nigeria.

Assistant coach Austin Eguavoen will handle the squad, which includes World Cup goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.
