The Black Satellites of Ghana will play their Malian counterparts in the round of 16 of FIFA U-20 World Cup competition currently ongoing in New Zealand.

The African sides lock horns on Wednesday June 10 as the round of 16 of the competition kicks off at the Wellington Regional Stadium in New Zealand.

The Sellas Tetteh team finished top of their group with seven points after beating Argentina (3 – 2) and Panama (1 – 0) after a one-all draw in their first group game against Austria.

Mali qualified to this stage as one of the best third-placed having finished behind Serbia and Uruguay in group D with 4 points.

Ghana and Mali have faced off twice in the run-up to Wednesday’s meeting. The Satellites lost to Mali in March at the Africa qualifying tournament in Senegal but beat the Malians in the match for third place.

The two joined Nigeria and Senegal to represent Africa in New Zealand and all four teams have qualified for the last 16 round.
