Ghana have recorded yet another poor campaign at the African Women’s Championship after suffering a group stage exit in the 2014 edition in Namibia.

The Black Queens beat Cameroon 1-0 in their final Group B match through an Elizabeth Cudjoe striker but missed out on the semi-finals slot due to the outcome in the other game.

South Africa, who were chasing the final slot with Ghana thrashed Algeria 5-1 to qualify with a better goal difference.

Cameroon had already qualified after winning their first two matches against South Africa and Algeria.

Ghana, who are three-time losing finalists in the history of the competition have now piled up a list of terrible outings in recent times following group stage exits in 2008 and 2010. They also failed to qualify to the 2012 edition.

Nigeria, Ivory Coast, South Africa and Cameroon complete the roll call for the semi-finals.

The top three teams will represent the continent at the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.
