By Veronica Commey, GNA correspondent in Gabon, courtesy, Ministry of Youth and Sports Franceville, Gabon, Feb 2, GNA- Black Stars deputy coach, Akwasi Appiah said the team is playing below its potential despite qualification to the last eight of the continental gathering.

Ghana picked seven points out of a possible nine to top Group D and set up a meeting with Tunisia in the last eight after their one all drawn game with Guinea, last Wednesday.

The Coach told GNA Sports in Franceville that “the team has not played to its potential yet. Against Bostwana, we did not rise to the expected level.

“The same was with the game against Mali though we saw little improvement. We played about 70% of our potential in that second game. Not much can be said in the game with Guinea”.

He said the team had played well tactically this far and yearned to improve when they meet Tunisia on Sunday in their quest to progress in the tourney the Stars are tipped alongside the Ivorian Elephants as favourites.

“We hope to raise our game close to perfection against Tunisia. They are a very good side but we keep working hard because we want to go all the way to the finals. Tactically, the team is playing as planned and that is good for us”.

The Stars, who are chasing a fifth Nations Cup glory in three decades, have scored four times and conceded one in three outings to qualify to the quarter finals.
