Fans Diaries, the popular Ghanaian semi-reality programme that follows the exploits of the national football team and their teeming supporters has joined forces with renowned Brazilian production company HB Filmes.

The partnership would involve production assistance, technical input and location shoots by the Natal based media group alongside Ghana Sports International (GSI); producers of Fans Diaries.

Explaining the rationale behind the collaboration, the producer of Fans Diaries Theodora Oti said it would improve the overall content and package of the show.

'' The World Cup in Brazil offers new opportunities as the bar has also been raised. So in order to meet the expectations and deliver the best package yet, we must also engage with local and international partners accordingly by bringing in additional production expertise''.

Television viewers in Ghana will not have to wait too long to sample the new programme since the GSI production team has already travelled to Brazil to shoot a number of Fans Diaries World Cup Countdown episodes.

For most Ghanaian football fans, Egypt 2006 and Germany 2006 World Cup Diaries opened a new window into the lives of the national team.

The innovative concept was devised by Metro TV media guru Talal Fattal with the classy delivery of Ghanaian Sports presenter Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah when they brought the Black Stars first ever World Cup qualification home live from Cape Verde in 2005.

Since then, similar programmes like Fans Arena and Fans Zones following the exploits of other national teams have been successfully produced and aired.

The partnership for Brazil 2014 is seen as especially important considering the sheer scale, complexities and even physical input of travelling from city to city with sensitive and expensive equipment.

Fans Diaries has come to represent the television staple of arm chair football lovers making it Ghana’s most popular semi-reality tv show on the Black Stars and their fans.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports will also have dedicated segments within the programme to project the team and the country Ghana as a global brand.

Brazil 2014 Fans Diaries will capture the drama, passion, and raw energy of fans who are considered the heart beat of any team and any sports. It will also feature the stories of players, their families, officials and fans before, during and after the tournament.

The crew will bring reports from the training pitches, hotels, airport departure lounges and dressing rooms of some of the world’s finest stadiums as Ghana returns to the world stage for the third successive time.

The 2014 Fans Diaries Countdown will air from Saturday March 29 to Saturday July 19th on key networks including GTV, Viasat 1.
