Ghana to play Cote d'Ivoire

Accra, Oct. 9, GNA - Ghana has been paired against her western neighbours Cote d'Ivoire for the qualifiers of the 2007 All Africa Games to be hosted by Algeria.

According to information gathered by the GNA Sports from the secretariat of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), Ghana will host the first leg game scheduled between 15 - 17 December. The second leg is fixed for between 12 - 14 January.

The competition which is usually opened for national Under-23 sides will see the winner of the two leg qualifier facing Nigeria, the defending champions at the last games, in February, with the second leg fixed for between 9-11 November.

Ghana has commenced preparations for the qualifiers following the invitation of 38 players to camp for the national Under-23 team, the Black Meteors.

The 38-man squad, which is under the technical tutelage of coach Jones Attuquayefio are expected to undergo a screening exercise to select the best materials for the assignments.

The players drawn from the camp of Premier League and Division One sides include the likes of Micheal Helegbe, Anthony Annan, Edmund Owusu Peprah, George Yamoah and Douglass Nkrumah.
