Ghana are yet to reach their peak at 2013 Africa Cup of Nations but coach Kwesi Appiah points out that his side have a solid foundation to attain such heights.

The Black Stars settled for a 2-2 draw in their opening Group B game in Port Elizabeth against DR Congo, but since then have calmly dealt with the expectation by beating Mali 1-0 on Thursday to jump top in the group.

After allowing two goals in their opener, Ghana kept a clean sheet in their last match as they now set their sights on making it to the knockout stages of the African competition.

And for Appiah, Ghana has a base on which to hit their stride as the competition continues.

“We've still got much to offer,” Appiah said after their victory over Mali.

“We can do much, much better than what we did today [against Mali] and we just hope that we keep going and we will see more of that.”

Kwesi Appiah's team now have a final group game against Niger on Monday to worry about as they top the Group B standings with four points from their opening two matches.

However, the Ghana coach is happy with the improved level of concentration exhibited and hopes they can carry it throughout.

“From what I see now, they were very tactically disciplined and what I expected them to do was what they did.”
