Accra, Nov. 15, GNA - Three thousand-football fans from Mali are expected to grace the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana 2008 next year.
The Malian Eagles, who will be making their fifth appearance at the biennial championships, are housed in Group B alongside Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire and Benin at the Essipong stadium near Sekondi in the Western Region.
Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Operating Officer of the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations said this during the 3rd MTN/LOC Media Seminar on Thursday.
He said the Mali Football Federation have requested for an allocation for 3000 fans for the 26th edition of the biennial fiesta.
Mr Danquah said a delegation from the Federation who visited the LOC early this week communicated to confirm the details of the arrangements.
He said this has put the LOC under some form of pressure in the quest to meet the accommodation demands of the expected fans.
The Operating Officer said this has compelled the LOC to liase with some educational institutions to inform them to re-schedule their re-opening dates to enable some of the fans use their dormitories.
"This is one of the major plans we can use to solve the accommodation demands of various visiting fans."
Mr Danquah also announced that for the first time in the history of the competition there would be match programmes to offer information for all the 32 matches in the quest of making hosting of the event the best ever Africa Cup of Nations on the continent.
Mr George Andah, Marketing Officer of Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), the title sponsors of the January 20 - February 10 Championship, assured of the best of services for the media and others during the three-week event.
