Have the New York Red Bulls found their replacement for Matt Miazga?

According to a Finnish report, 24-year-old Gideon Baah could be heading to the New York Red Bulls. Baah currently plays for HJK of the Finnish premier league.

As reported, Baah was originally on his way to a transfer to Barcelona (likely Barcelona B) when that deal was pulled off the table. New York, fresh off announcing that young defender Matt Miazga was on his way to Chelsea, jumped in on the deal that would bring Baah to the Red Bulls to fill Miazga’s spot on the backline.

Baah comes with an extensive resume of competing at the highest levels of European football. He has appeared in seven UEFA Champions League matches, and nine Europa matches for HJK. He has also appeared in 41 league matches over two years for his club, helping them win the 2015 League Cup. He has one CAP for Ghana, in relief duty at RFK Stadium in a 1-1 draw vs Canada last fall.

Currently, the Red Bulls count Ronald Zubar, Karl Ouimette and the injured Damien Perrinelle as their top centerback choices.
