"Goal scoring problem is a global phenomenon" - Le Roy

Accra, Feb. 28, GNA- Claude Le Roy, trainer of Ghana's Black Stars has acknowledged goal scoring problem as a global phenomenon, pleading that strikers are offered support to enable them to overcome the deficiency.

"Goal scoring is one of the most difficult acts in football and I perfectly feel players must be offered every support needed to enable them overcome that challenge".

He told GNA Sports 'I think supporters have been very unfair to Asamoah Gyan in their desire to see him score more goals. "I truly think step by step, Gyan will start scoring more goals that will overwhelm people".

He described the Udinese player as a fine youngster whose entire contribution to matches cannot be underestimated.

The Frenchman told GNA Sports "Gyan's contribution to games is so telling that it leaves me wondering why people ignore that and rather focus on his inability to put the ball behind the net.

I will continue to supports him not because I like him in a special way but because I know that contributing positively is the big deal with getting the goals, being the icing on the cake".

"I wish people will see Gyan as a fine team player whose passes and ability to get his opponents panicking is always hundred percent".

The 22 year old striker has so often stayed under the microscope of criticism following his inability to score that regularly.

Gyan became the first Ghanaian to score at the World Cup when he grabbed the Stars first goal in their 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in a group game at the summit in Germany last year.

The coach, who is keeping faith with the striker is buoyant Gyan will soon blossom in a manner that will exceed expectation.
