Accra, April 18, GNA - Battling Obuasi Goldfields fought back on two occasions to draw with Accra Great Olympics in a two all friendly football encounter played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. In an infringement littered encounter, both teams created two quick scoring chances in the opening two minutes but their strikers failed to convert the early chances.

Olympics were lucky not to have gone down in the fourth minute when Goldfields Awudu Ronaldo near post header after a cross from the left flank missed the goal by inches with Olympics goalkeeper Theophilus Mensah nowhere in sight.

Olympics gradually took control of the game but failed to capitalize on the defensive frailties of the Goldfields central defence partnership of Kofi Amoaku and Yusif Ali to open the scores.

Olympics were unlucky in the 32 minute to get the match opener when a thunderbolt of shot from John Cudjoe rebounded off the goalpost to the relieve of the visitors.

The home team's relentless efforts at goal however paid off in the 36th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick when Amoaku impeded Olympics Roger Odamten who was the first to react after Goldfields goalie, Isaac Amoaku had spilled of a long range shot.

Carlos Adofo of Olympics elected himself to take the kick and he expectedly converted it to give Olympics the lead.

The second half had barely started when Goldfields sent warning signals to Olympics of what they had in store for them when a volley by Awudu Ronaldo from outside the box flew just wide off the mark in the 47th minute.

Goldfield's Richard Awuah who came on at the break nearly brought his team on level terms but saw his effort roll agonizingly on the Olympics goal line refusing to enter the net for an Olympics defender to make a timely clearance in the 61st minute.

A minute later, the Miners drew level courtesy an intelligent run from the right by substitute Ofosu Amoah who laid a pass for unmarked Lamin Nasir to tap into the net.

Olympics defied the trend of play of the visitors to take the lead again in the 78th minute when Paa Joe Kumah who had just come on profited from a seemingly offside position to volley the ball over Abubakar Kankani who had come on for Issac Amoaku for Olympics second goal.

However, Goldfields who were determined to take something out of the game rallied and deservedly got the equaliser in the 84th minute through a similar run which brought the equalizer when Ofosu Amoah raced past Victor Ogoe to center again for Asari Boateng to score.
