Accra, Dec. 9, GNA - Abdul Rashid Pelpuo, Minister of Youth and Sports has affirmed that government will not deviate from partnering with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in their common quest of developing football in the country. The Minister told the media on Wednesday that even though it was a common knowledge that government was a major financier of the national teams, his outfit will not exert any form of pressure or control on the GFA regarding the day to day administration of the Federation.
Mr Pelpuo said government respects the GFA's posture of independence and will find a common ground to fashion out how best they can collaborate through the Public Interest Committee (PIC).
The Minister said government views the PIC which is in the status of the GFA as a committee that should have the capacity to liaise with the football body on matters of public interest.
Mr Pelpuo underscored the need to ensure that the difference in opinions on football administration as a result of the passion that comes with the globular leather will not cloud the various sense of judgment.
"This is not to say I do not appreciate the difference in opinion; I do, knowing there are cracks in our opinions because of that same passion and nationalism. "But I trust that must not affect or impact negatively on how sentiments are whipped up against the good of the game. 09 Dec. 09
