Accra, Jan 28, GNA - Juapong-based Division Two side, Great Stars have secured a place in the Volta Region Middle League with two matches to end the league.

Great Stars have been dominant in the Division Two League in the Volta Region where they played eight matches without a single defeat and are now set to battle for a place in the national Division One league. Mr Dan Aseidu-Asare, Chairman and bankroller of the team told the He said that the team will step up its training programme ahead of the Middle league, adding that they will not relent in their efforts until the Division One league target is achieved.

Mr Aseidu-Asare said the team is poised to make an entry into the Division One league within the shortest possible time but reckons that this will be based on hard work, discipline, commitment and dedication. On the chances of the team in the Middle league, the Chairman said, 93everyone should look out for Great Stars as we will be out to cause a major upset".

"We are taking the competition by storm and we will leave no stone unturned in our quest to make an early entry into the national Division One league".

Great Stars have so far exhibited some excellent brand of soccer in the Division Two league with the likes of Lawrence Lamptey, Livingston Logo, Obodai Asare and Jacob Ayensu as the brightest spots in the team.

The Chairman took the opportunity to call on the handlers of the national teams to cast their net wide across the length and breadth of the nation when inviting players into the national teams since there are more raw potential talents that abound in the rural areas. Mr Aseidu=96Asare regretted that regions like the Volta Region and others have been neglected by the national team handlers despite the abundance of talents in the regions.

He was of the view that the various national teams could be stronger than they are if the talent hunt is spread to all corners of the country.

The Middle league is expected to commence in the middle of the year after the completion of the national Premier League in April.
