Panathinaikos coach Angelos Anastasiadis has warned his six new signings not to step out of line once the Greek season restarts after the winter break.
The unveiling of the six new stars - Derek Boateng(Ghana), Emmanuel Olisadebe, Iourkas Seitaridis, Filipos Darlas, Andreas Koutelieris and Kostas Daskalakis – was overshadowed by the disciplinarian Anastasiadis' incredible outburst.
As soon as the sextet had revealed their delight at joining the Champions' League contenders, Anastasiadis gave his warning: "My assistants and I have worked very hard over the last few months to make a strong team.
"There’s a very good atmosphere in the team and whoever tries to spoil it will die. Death! You all know what the word means. Obedience means life.
"This is what the club board want and there is no place in the team for someone who only thinks about himself."
Anastasiadis was thought to be referring to Paulo Sousa, with whom he has been embroiled in a bitter war of words. The midfielder hit back this week and said: "He has shown me no respect as a person or as football player. This man is standing in the way of my return to action. Since the beginning of the season he hasn’t let me do the exercises I need for my injured leg. What can I do to defend myself?"
Sousa joined Panathinaikos from Juventus in the summer on a three-year deal worth a reported ?2 million a year but his season has been decimated by injuries.
Anastasiadis carved out a major managerial career in Thessaloniki coaching PAOK twice and taking the hot-seat at Iraklis. He has also coached Edessiakos, Ialisos and Kavala.
