Grunsah Seeks To Maintain Herbert Standards

Sat, 3 Jan 2004 Source: .

King Faisal Chairman and Founder, Alhaji Grunsah is seeking to maintain the standard displayed by his team after parting ways with Herbert Mensah at the end of the last season.

And as a first step towards that, Grunsah says he is negotiating for German coach Hans Dieter Schmidt to stay as Faisal coach. Schmidt, recruited by Herbert was thought to be on his way out after the former Kotoko chief executive quit the club.

Grunsah also says he would still maintain the salary structure of the players which was upped in Herbert’s time despite the withdrawal of two sponsorship deals with mobile phone makers Nokia and kit manufactures Puma after Herbert’s departure.

Faisal finished third in the just ended season during which Herbert Mensah held a seventy per cent stake in the club. The two denied media reports of a rift arising out of financial differences but they separated recently.

Grunsah still owns Faisal but under the separation deal, Herbert now has a 50 per cent stake in all players he recruited for the club and those whose contracts he helped finalise.
