Alhaji Abdul Karim Grunsah has accused the Ghana Football Associaition (GFA) of trying to divert attention from its intention of extending its stay in office without election.

Grunsah, the owner of top Premier League side King Faisal Babies, launched his latest attack on the GFA hierarchy ahead of the extra-ordinary congress on Tuesday to discuss the issue.

The term of the GFA board expires in 2009 but the Kwasi Nyantakyi-led administration wants it term extended until after the 2010 World Cup.

According to Grunsah, the GFA used the purported ban on Tudu Mighty Jets and Abedi Pele's Nania FC to shroud its intention at the congress because it wants to divert attention.

"The letter inviting the members to congress tried to hide the fact that Nyantakyi and his henchmen want to stay in office unconstitutionally," Grunsah said.

"This is criminal. They rather want to descend on Mighty Jets and Nania who are contributing with their own money to help develop talents for Ghana.

"How long should these these people be allowed to do whatever they want because they think they clever. This is a criminal act."

The GFA argues that election in 2009 would not augur well for the country's preparation for the World Cup but Grunsah says the GFA members don't play football.

"They would have a point if they play for the Black Stars but they are not the players," Grunsah said.

"There are structures in place within the federation that allows things to go on smoothly even if there are elections.

"Does it mean that, may God forbid, if the GFA boss is not well in 2009 it should interfere with the country's World Cup qualifiers or prepaprations?

"We should put more structures in place within the GFA to ensure that a person's absence does not affect the administration of the game in Ghana.

"Our country is bigger than one person's personal interest - and do we know if we will qualify for the World Cup?," the King Faisal owner asked.

Grunsah added that Mgithy Jets and Nania should be not be used as pawns in the political aspirations of Nyantakyi.
