Wa All Stars midfielder Emmanuel Gyamfi insists he will relish a move to Asante Kotoko as a free agent after exhausting his three-year contract at the Upper West Region outfit.

The 21-year-old joined All Stars from Unity FC in 2012 after a splendid campaign and has since being an integral part of team's success but now wants to test different challenges under long-time admirer David Duncan, Kotoko coach.

“I want to play for Kotoko next season after my contract has come to an end,” Gyamfi told Goal.

“Kotoko contacted me when Didi was handling the team but I was under contract then and couldn’t make any move. However, with the experience I have gained over the years, I believe I can help in propelling them to a successful campaign next season.

“Two Kotoko wingers [Richard Mpong and Prince Baffoe] have been released so definitely I can be of importance,” he said.

Although Gyamfi is hoping to get a call from Duncan, playing first-team football remains his objective.

“I don't know if he (Duncan) needs me, but everything depends on playing actively, which is what every footballer wants. If that isn't the case, I'll look for a team where I can keep improving my career.

“AshantiGold and Hearts of Oak are also following me. I am hoping for the best before the season finally kicks off in December.”

Kotoko axed seven players this week after battling relegation throughout last season, finishing 6th in the 16-team league with 42 points, two points away from the drop.

Gyamfi joined Armenian top-flight Shirak FC on a six-month loan deal in 2014 but opted not to extend the contract over monetary issues and returned to Ghana to sign for All Stars.
