LIVERPOOL have made plans for any departure of Fernando Torres by registering an interest in Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan.
The powerful attacker, 24, enhanced his reputation in South Africa and would cost in the region of £20m from Rennes.
Despite missing the crucial penalty that would have taken Ghana into the semi-finals, he made the shortlist of 10 players for the coveted Golden Ball award.
Benitez set to offer Muntari plus cash for Mascherano
Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano is reportedly desperate to leave Liverpool and link up with former boss Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan.And the Italians are prepared to offer former Portsmouth midfielder Sulley Muntari as a makeweight in order to reduce Liverpool's prohibitive £30m asking price.
One of Mascherano's advisers, Marco Piccioli, said: 'I know Mascherano and Benitez have a great relationship, but sometimes that is not enough.
"A deal (with Inter) can only happen towards the last part of the transfer market. That is my vision, at least.'
