Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan will be far away from his colleagues when they take on their Canadian counterparts in Washington today, October 13, 2015, due to injury.

But the Shanghai striker has sent a goodwill message to the team ahead of the game to go the extra mile to act as good and worthy ambassadors.

Speaking from his China base via telephone, he charged the team to attach seriousness to the game though it is a test game.

To debutants like Finland-based Gideon Baah and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh of Germany, Gyan charged them to rise to the occasion.

“We wouldn’t be available; some of the senior players due to various degrees of injuries but I know there are equally good representatives to act in our absence.”

“With a strong technical backing from Coach Grant and his team, I am confident the team will do well. I have spoken with a couple of them in camp and the signal I had was positive.”

“It is just a friendly but do your best for Ghana and your good selves for record purposes, we have become a powerhouse due to our exploits in our first two World Cups so I know they will guard against that.”

He added, “Our absence in this game offers opportunity for other players, especially the new comers so they should grab it and make very good use of it. I know they will shine so brightly.”

Injury has robbed the Stars of four key players -Gyan, Dede Ayew, Christian Atsu and Rabiu Mohammed for today's game in Washington, US.
