Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan admits he is concerned by the potential risk to his career in playing on an artificial pitch against Comoros on Friday.

The Black Stars striker is a major doubt for the opening 2018 World Cup qualifier against Comoros on Friday.

Gyan has only returned from a six-week injury layoff and has since been working on hitting optimum fitness levels.

The Black Stars' first and only training session on the artificial surface in Moroni however appears to have caused some problems for the Shanghai SIPG ace who confirms he and some of his colleagues are afraid of risking injuries which could hurt their careers.

"Some of the players have issues with the pitch, myself included, he said.

We have to protect our careers because these kind of pitches raises the risk levels of injuries but what can we do?

We have no option, this is the only venue they have here.

Personally I will have to sit with the technical team and the medical team to see how well we can go about it because personally it is a concern for my career."
