Gyan rules out move to France

Ghanaian forward Asamoah Gyan has not ruled out a move to the French League 1 after admitting he is aware of interest in his services from Stade Rennes. There have been reports in the last week suggesting the French side will make a bid for the 22-year old and he admitted to KickOffGhana.com it is one he would consider.

I will cheer them on Sunday but I am also hoping I recover quickly and play my part in the qualifiers

“My manager has spoken to me about the Rennes interest so I am aware, the Udinese player said. Whether I move will depend on a lot of things but France is a really good country and their league one of the best in the world.”

Gyan’s primary priority though is to get back to full fitness after his season was ravaged by injury. Having started as a regular for Udinese, he picked up an injury that ultimately ruled him out of the closing stages of the season after a disappointing Africa Nations Cup. Now he reckons it will take another two clear months before he is fully fit.

“I have started running and kicking the ball but it might be another two months before I am back to full fitness. I will join Udinese for pre-season training and then see how we take it from there.”

Gyan says the spell on the touchline has been difficult to take especially with the Black Stars undertaking 2010 qualifiers without him. The team has been prolific in front of goal without the man who has 13 goals in 27 matches for Ghana and reckons they will only get better with time.

“I saw the last game against Gabon and we simply did not have a good game. They were better than us but I am 100 per cent sure that on Sunday it will be a different story because this team knows how to pick up from difficult times.

“I will cheer them on Sunday but I am also hoping I recover quickly and play my part in the qualifiers.”
