Black stars striker Asamoah Gyan has had his first training with new club Al Ain in the UAE. The 25-year-old on loan from English Premier League club Sunderland returned to the country in the early hours of Thursday after he was excused for two days, to travel to England and prepare himself for his new challenge.
Gyan later in the evening joined his new team mates in training as they intensified preparations for their first game in the Etisalat Emirates Cup against Al Wehda on Friday.
Romanian coach Cosmin Ol?roiu’s precautionary measure on Gyan’s fitness meant that the Ghanaian striker was not involved in the cup game as Al Wehda beat them by two goals to one on Friday evening.
30-year-old Brazilian forward, Hugo Henrique got a brace for Al Wehda in the 21st and 52nd minute whilst central defender, Mohamed Ahmed Ismail managed to pull one back in the 76th minute for Al Ain in the game watched by 3,896 spectators at the 12000 capacity Al-Rashid stadium in Dubai.
Al Ain’s next game in the Group A of the Etisalat Cup is on Friday, the 23rd of September against Dubai CSC who also lost by the same score line in their first match to Emirates Club.
