With one day to the deadline for coaches interested in the vacant Black Stars job to declare their interest, Heart of lions coach Bashiru Hayford is the only Ghanaian to formally apply for the job.
He is one of twenty-four coaches who have written to the GFA to express interest in the job with the deadline due to expire on Friday.
The other twenty-three are all non-Ghanaians. The Heart of Lion coach told Joy sports, he is confident of landing the job and can successfully engineer the Stars world cup qualifying campaign.
Bashiru has successfully steered Heart of Lions to second place just two points behind Hearts of Oak in zone B of the national premier league but it is highly unlikely he would be handed he hugely tasking job of coaching the Black Stars.
Whoever gets the job will become Ghana?s fifth coach in just under two years and will take charge of his first major game when Ghana line up against Congo DR in a world cup qualifier in March 2005.
